It could well be that an NRL side might offer him 2 years but Leeds will offer 3?

Would have thought this a complete non starter for a couple of reasons. 1) He is a bigger name than Tetavano (who allegedly is on 200k plus) and would certainly command a higher wage. The likes of Warrington and Hull are in more desperate need of props than we are and probably have more cap to throw at it. 2) If we do throw big money at him what kind of message does that send to Oledzki & Holroyd, who are both going to be pushing for bigger contracts over the next couple of years? One marquee prop is enough. We should have the funds to get a very solid Ava type and keep a bit back to look after the young guns.

Good points.

Don’t get me wrong, if we could add Marty our pack would be awesome.

However there are other considerations as you say. If I’m honest I’d say Taupau was the kind of signing I’d have liked instead of Tetevano, but it’s who’s available at the time.

Then again we absolutely haven’t seen the best of Zane this year. Much at all in fact.

We may well also need a standout winger next year and there will be contracts to upgrade, not least of which Newman’s.

Yep. Given the way Mick is going I think he's destined to be our next marquee man. With the club trained dispensation it makes sense. Reckon we'll have to dig deep to keep him in SL in a couple of years.

Yes the success of our youth development will be difficult to retain long-term. I can see some of our players attracting some serious interest, and if an NRL club becomes seriously interested there's no SL club who can compete on money.

Anyway, I'd rather we were in that position than the alternative!

We will definitely need to bear in mind spare salary cap as the lads' contracts come round for renewal (or before).

Mik still has a fair bit of development in him too, that's the scary thing. I don't think Tom Holroyd will be far behind, he's only 20 years old and already bossing seasoned professionals at times.

I believe he signed a 4 yr one last year (dont quote me on that) but it wont have been for much and im sure they will upgrade him when time allows.

Tariq Sims: what are people's thoughts on this rumor.Only watch minimal NRL so don't know what to think of this one.Seems to have a good pedigree SOO, but not aware of any injury or discpline issues.

If he does materialize, looks like he has a point to prove.Seems like a big unit that would fill Kings loss.
