Come on, Jim. The idea that we can get by without another prop doesn't stand scrutiny. Tetavano hasn't been available for more than half the season, Prior will be another year older (35 I think) Holroyd is still young and injury prone and Thompson looks past it. A lot of pressure on big Mik to stay fit for what will be a lot longer season. We are running out of props this year, as we did last. I agree we need quality, but if that quality is coming in the form of a NRL back we need to opt for short term quantity in the middle. It's alright saying Muizz is an option, but is a Hull KR reject going to be good enough?
Fair enough; I don’t disagree that prop is/should be our highest priority. The point I’m making is - who? If we cannot find a top line prop then No I’d rather not block pathway of a Muizz, Tom N-W, AJ Wallace or others with just a warm body.
Hopefully we will identify a high quality prop. Like I said it’s NRL silly season but SL clubs are taking the crumbs left over after players have exhausted options to stay in the NRL. Just how it is and so we may have to wait a wee while.
It’s so hard managing recruitment. You get offered a good first grade winger now, do you hold off or strike while the iron’s hot?
