I do recall saying at some point that I understand that convictions are not , and cannot always be nailed on reliable , and for harsher punishment of the guilty rather than of those found guilty ..

As for your requesting proof that the death sentence prevents re-offending... Well.. There really is no point in me even attempting to explain how that works is there . Damo blew that one out of the water .

HMP kangaroo courts are a very effective way of dealing with such pondlife .

Would the correct thing for me to have said be as follows ? ...

If somebody were to tamper with one of my children then I would call the police and let them deal with it , and hope they got a fair trial and an appropriate punishment if found guilty. I would not want them punishing so harshly that it would infringe their rights as a human being . I do hope that if they were to be found guilty they are given comfortable bed in a centrally heated , air-conned , plushly furnished cell in a modern PC run Prison service establishment . I hope that they can be rehabilitated in said establishment , and they are released as soon as possible so as not to cause them too much inconvenience .
