It's an entertainment product when all's said and done, yes with a large degree of loyalty and backing the team from where you're born . But in a similar way I wouldn't keep returning to a restaurant after years of serving bad food. I know some will find that a weak analogy but theres an intrinsic development of apathy and disinterest after years of poor management and false dawns especially given the context of this club and the resources it has compared to others.

I only get to a few games a year now anyway but I can't help a feeling of detachment when it seems clear that we will not be investing in the short to medium term aspirations to win anything.

Can't reply to your post AC but I absolutely agree, spot on. Many of us on here have been watching Leeds for a long time and the recruitment just looks a mess at the moment, we clearly have had several knock backs, hence why we couldn't give Austin an answer. But like you say, with some clever PR the club could regain the narrative. The longer it looks messy from the outside it becomes a less and less attractive club for new players to join and bad for season ticket sales for next year.. it's fair to say a lot of long standing fans are becoming very very tired of it.

Yep, they could make it something. Call in it "announcement day", get the players down to HQ, invite the fans etc etc. Would buy the sometime and create some positive focus. Surely it wouldn't be that complicated.

If GH really has some signatures up his sleeve but doesn't want to announce because other clubs have requested, he could simply put out a press release confirming that signings (perhaps including a major half back) have been made and will be announced on a specific date. It would allow the club to regain the narrative - which has currently become about a perceived lack of ambition - and actually give the fans something to look forward to. The current line - GH scouring the market whilst competitors gradually annouce signings - makes him look like the RL equivalent of Mr Magoo. Of course all this presupposes that some recruitment has already taken place.

My concern on the lack of announcements IF deals are really done is they are on the lines of Milnes and more projects and plodders and good lads that Smith likes. We need some quality.

I've no doubt this is what we're looking at happening with faith being put in to RS making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. If we finish above 6th next year given how things look I'll eat my hat.

Yep. Anything less and the fanbase will collectively smell a rat. That said we have been linked with Levi, Brookes and a couple of other quality players in the right positions. However, it's one thing being linked and another getting them over the line. I'm sure GH knows projects and plodders will not cut it.

GH is on to a winner financially for the club (or so he thinks he is) with RS hailed as the developer of young players he can continue to do everything on the cheap with the long term plan/long game with the younger players giving him the grace of time with the supporters (or so he perceives) for things to come good. This is how it looks anyway.

We need to invest heavily in 2-3 high quality senior players to ensure the young players develop to their potential as otherwise they won't reach that level without key players around them.

Bored of it all now and losing interest fast.

Thing is, ATEOTD people have a finite amount of money they can / will spend.
In the days we find ourselves in not everyone will / can justify waxing £60+ on a day out if the product is lousy and it leaves a sour taste in the mouth being constantly told its jam tomorrow. That doesn't make you any less "loyal" or "better" it just means your practical.

Ive always said I dont really care about the result it more the performance and enjoyment gained from attending games with my friends, recently this has waned, people I used to see no longer attend as its boring / too expensive / not worth it. There's been a definite sea change with how the fans now see the club, you can look past certain things when you are on a roll / on top but these things really begin to grate when its the same bland excuses / lines trotted out year after year.

Yes we dont "deserve" to be on top forever, we dont deserve to not have at least some adversity etc but when the same mistakes are being made and people feel like they are being taken for granted then when these things like the ongoing transfer sagas / ground improvements / prices / apparel quality blow up in the clubs face then there's going to very little good will left.

Do I think the club has realised its messed up? I would say it has. Is it on the path to recovery?, again I would say yes but it really feels like to me anyway its taking a daft way of going about things antagonising the fans with this ridiculous silence on signings. Great shout above that the club couldve / still can get back in front of this issue but chooses not to. When even Pete Smith is questioning the club you KNOW they have messed up.

If you have been eating in the same restaurant for 30 years and for the last 7 years the standard of food is getting progressively worse then I think you are justified to air your concerns. I would keep going to the restaurant but they either need a new chef or the propreiter needs to give the chef better ingredients and stop buying poor quality or past it's sell by date goods. Alternatively the propreiter needs to retire!

Is that Jordan McLean? If so and he’s fit that could be an interesting Satae replacement.

I hear you are sniffing round Mikey Lewis. However, for a UK 7 and 9 combo, I’d heartily recommend retaining Dwyer and putting Sutcliffe in at 7.

The Lewis thing was just some kid on Facebook who started it I think, and even the HDM reporter for Rovers jumped on it and put out a pretty childish article refuting the rumour.

Lewis isn't what we need anyway. We need a 7, a game manager, good kicking game. Trueman is getting better each week for us, and we have Hoy to come back yet - with Litten deputising really well.

Jordan McLean has been linked, same as Shaun Blore - they would be great signings for the pack - but everyone we are rumoured to have targeted so far, seem to have gone elsewhere - Clune to Hudds, Connor Watson supposedly resigning with the Roosters - so either that is bad luck, or, we were not even in for those players anyway as the general consensus is that we will be announcing 4 x NRL players, and 4 British players
