I have to say the reaction to a 32 year old half back instigating his own departure after working up to it for a number of months seems pretty disproportionate. It's sad that you have lost the love of the club to the point where you only rarely attend, but I'm not sure you are the typical fan. There are still 13k turning up on a weekly basis and they have done so (excluding Covid) throughout the ongoing slump. I fancy they'll still be there next year. I just hope that the club can use the cap now spare (I 'd estimate getting on for a third of the total figure) and bring you back on a more regular basis. I'd say the jury is still out on recruitment, but Austins departure is a good thing in the long run even it does us no favours for the rest of the season.

The clubs just announced record figures for commercial and also memberships back up to pre pandemic levels.

This board isn’t really representative of the overall picture.

if you read things you will see vast majority praise the off field way the club is run.
on the field its shambolic and has been for years, that's the issue. I'm sure you'll quote the final last year, again, but frankly it's been nothing but crap and treading water for 5 yeats

Who’s said they’ve only started looking now?

There’s also still quite a lot of time before next season, it seems that this season everyone is clamouring for announcements during the season, clubs often sign or announce signings in the off season, I think this August 4th deadline thing has got everyone worked up (not just our fans)

There’s always movement in the NRL after their season finishes

Hopefully we have some strong recruitment plans in place. I am not particularly critical of the Austin situation as based on his behaviours we probably have taken the right decision however it could have been handled better with RS. My criticism of Gary is based on the last 6 years and the overall picture around recruitment retention and player management. It just feels as though we have moved from setting the agenda to constantly reacting to the latest circumstance and making poor decisions.
It's nothing personal I remember when Gary first became involved with Leeds he was very approachable practical and proactive doing a brilliant job for a number of years both developing the club commercially and raising the playing standard and ambitions.
I suppose in any role where you have been incumbent for a long period of time you become complacent and really in terms of recruitment Buderus was the last really major signing Leeds have made that can be viewed as a statement. Domestically Joel Moon was also a good signing. I know the market has changed and we are in a different place in terms of quality of players available however I think that since 2015 we have fairly consistently behind other clubs in terms of recruitment.

on the statement signings, I can’t think of any to any club in the last 5/6 years? Not on the Buderus scale anyway.

I would have said Maloney and Pearce at Catalans and maybe Williams at Wire. But few and far between.

Takieho (definitely spelt wrong) at Catalan and Burgess at Wigan too, even if they haven’t/didn’t work out.
