I've no idea. But if you don't ask, and don't offer real money none of them would come of course.

I should add that I think its got to the point where the club needs to make a statement signing. Like putting out big money in terms of paying a fee plus marquee wages to get Croft. Or getting a half-decent NRL player on a very big marquee contract. I don't think its just about 'filling a gap' at this point. The club needs to signal real intent to do better.

We might have asked, it’s ok saying go out and buy someone but if they don’t want to come it aint going to happen especially when the NRL salary cap is so much higher.

Salford will also cling on to their best player as long as they can.

I see GH has come out today with the usual promises about how there will be new signings for next season.

Be interesting to see who as this off season, on top of poor recruitment/retention/rebuilding that seems to have been ongoing for several years, is massive especially with how things have developed this season as GH cannot risk a situation developing where season ticket holders start ‘voting with their feet’ for next season when it comes to renewal time.

Callum Walker has both made up the Cust rumour and then dismissed it within a few hours. Busy day for the lad, unfortunately my 2 clicks have probably contributed to keeping him in the 'job'.

The NRL salary cap is of course much higher, and some players just don't want to go to England. But the marquee rules mean that wage gap doesn't matter much for one or two players if you have the money. Half a million dollars - way more than a backup halfback would get - is 285k at current exchange rates. Throw in a longer deal to lower the annual salary and you'd have takers at the upper age range.

Of course some players don't want to go to SL. But I don't think that's the issue if we really want to get someone. The issue is how much we're willing to pay.

Just for comparison's sake, we paid 350k for Harris way back in 1997. Imagine if we put that sort of money to use today. Even the same amount, never mind with 20+ years of inflation (just checked and that would be well over 700k today).

No clubs have that sort of money, when was the last time a club paid close to that amount?

Yes Paul Caddick is absolutely minted but he doesn’t put money into the club like that.
