This isn’t football manager, you can’t just sign loads of players whenever you want. Additionally, Ben Cross played SOO as well, worth remembering before we comment that somebody is a high quality player because they played SOO. By the way Mbye playing SOO in 2019 as qld picked hunt at 9 who wasn’t really able to do 80 mins back then, Cherry evans had an injury but started and Mbye was literally a utility on the bench to cover various positions.
Overall just a bit of thought and perspective would be welcome.

The suggestion is that we are desperate for a 9 and it's nonsense.
O'Connor and Johnson are very good young players and are developing - and both are English!!
OK, Johnson is a bit behind because of his break from the game, but there is bags of potential there.

The envy of Mbye and Parcell is ridiculous.
Mbye is a downgrade on Lussick and is a utility player.
Parcell is very inconsistent.
Neither would particularly improve our team and would not be worth an OQ spot.
Don't get me wrong, Levi would be a very good signing and would likely be the best 9 in SL, but our priorities are elsewhere.

HB and Prop is the priority recruitment for us.

6,7 and 1 for me are priority.
6,7 both going and sadly as much as I like Myler his pace has gone.
After that another prop, and if a very experienced 9 is available ok , or you could send both 9’s to Oz and let Buderus work on them for a month .

Would agree with that if only because we know we are definitely losing players in those positions. However, the replacements would have to be substantial upgrades if we are to do anything other than tread water. For me it needs to be very good replacements plus another addition, possibly full back, that adds some real pace. Something that we badly lack.

recruitment is a jigsaw, it's not about getting the best players in every position. It is about getting the players that will play best together. That doesnt stop on the field, has to work with coaching staff, back room staff, admin and general club staff. the pace needs to be happy to play well and it isnt an easy formula.
Of cource the most important thing is keeping fans on social media happy and if they arent then we have no chance of success and silverware.

Matt Moylan is available for next year. Catalans are the favourites to sign him.

Of course there is a holistic side to this with all component parts working happily and smoothly together. I'd like to think that is largely the case. However there is no getting away from the fact the qualities of the personnel who actually take the field is the key determining factor in terms of success. Current playing personnel just haven't been able to deliver this so unless we can source improvements in key positions we will continue to struggle.

Aussie press suggesting Catalan have made an approach.

Decent player but not a dominant half and an iffy injury record imo.

People only read what they want to hear though. I never said anything about wanting to sign Parcell. Just a lament that we’ve not had a quality one since releasing him. We could sign Cleary at 6, but even he is a lot better with not just good service, but good decision making at 9, and that’s key.
Also don’t think people realise that this is a discussion thread. If you don’t want to hear other peoples opinions I would just stay away from online forums!

Agree on Parcell and I could not understand why we let him go.
He is better than what we have now.
