I've never understood the need for warm weather pre season training camps, especially as the season starts in winter. It's hard hardly the best preparation for that.

I think you answer the very reason in your post. It’s not about the start, it’s about the whole season. Preaseason is vital to a good season, you need to take advantage of it as much as possible. Only one way to guarantee that.
I guess a warm weather training camp is a decent expense. Taking a whole squad away for long enough to do some good, you must be looking at up to £2k per head?
It’s probably mentally beneficial as much as anything else. Whether it really makes a difference to the season ahead though is debatable.

It’s needed because the season starts in winter. We have cold, wet, dark weather, other than for strength and fitness it’s not ideal training conditions
If Kirkstall gets flooded out again too, last time it didnt do us a y good .if the budget doesn't run to warm weather training what does it say for the quality of further recruitment?
After the 2016 washout season, grizzly Brian took them to a farm in the dales for pre-season camp, not much sunshine up there, won the GF in 2017. Reckon this group needs team bonding as much as anything else for a few days of camp.

It’s a long off season this year, we could do both
