Unless we have signed a belter at HB we should be offering him 2 years and if the club are not talking to him then they need to give their head a wobble and get his contract sorted pronto.

And personally I don`t see anything wrong in what Austin says as he must surely want his future sorting one way or another.
It was Austin who promised that. As you noted, the big question is - have the club signed a better half back? We don't know that yet, but you'd have to assume they are trying. If they are, good on em. Nothing wrong with ambition. It is very unlikely that Blake Austin will be a faster/ better player next year and certainly not the year after. A young player might. Also worth remembering that Blake has previously said he likes one year contracts, which I believe was the clubs opening gambit. Hopefully it will all be sorted out in the next couple of weeks. If he stays we will have retained a very good player, on his day. If he goes we might well have signed a player who can do more for us.
