Yeah looking that way isn’t it. The club would just announce the deal not the player if he was staying.. he’s a loss imo if he goes. We will do very well to replace improve upon Sezer and Austin in one offseason

you have to replace 2 of 1,6 and 7 either this year or next. imo it looks like leeds are replacing the halves this year and myler next

It's a sad indictment of the club and English game in general that the thought of replacing two thirty something, and pretty inconsistent halves, is considered practically impossible. We really need to target bringing through a couple of our own in the next 3 or 4 years.

Well we all hope there's some well kept secrets as the halves are a big uncertainty at the moment for next year.

Sad indictment or not we have to accept that there is still a couple of years of filling before those younger players are ready (there's been many Junior halves in the interim years who haven't stayed the test of time), Sinfield then McCormack. So we are where we are. Lots of underperforming NRL teams getting pumped every week so maybe there will be some halves looking for clubs.

It's also pretty unheard of in and team in any era to replace both halves in one go?

I agree with pretty much all you are saying, but there have been a couple of notable exceptions of late. Hull replaced 1, 6 and 7 last year. We also brought Sezer and Austin in for 22. So it can be done, whether it can be done successfully is a different question.

How successful can it be done is I agree the biggie?
Yes it can be done but let`s face it Austin/Sezer have not had many good games together since they arrived.
Coincidently and it happens everywhere that they both seem to be playing well near to their contract renewals.
Not so long ago we would be happy for Sezer to be replaced and it was 50/50 with Austin.
Unless we splash the cash and go for the likes of Croft or Lewis there`s not many halves certainly in SL that stand out. There must be one or two either on the fringes or those looking for another club in the NRL that we could tempt for a year or two.
And if Austin is going back to the NRL then we will have no choice but to replace both our halves next year and replace Myler the year after .
Whether that`s a success remains to be seen.
