I actually don’t mind Sezer, he just doesn’t represent value for money at the moment, if he was to accept a vastly lower deal id keep him over roberts tbh

That's my concern.
We have to replace 1 and 7 this time around. If we only replace one then it's a full season of similar to this and then year after we then have to find one or two on top of replacements for older players elsewhere.

We should give Austin the two year deal.
He'll be difficult to replace.
And given a couple of eye-catching performances lately, I bet he has a 2 year option elsewhere.

We need a top drawer 1 and 7.
Roberts would be a downgrade on Sezer.
Yes he'd be cheaper, but that's only OK if we invest in a superstar FB.

Do we desperately need a new fullback though?

Myler is contracted for next season and still puts in solid performances, sorting the half back situation and signing a new centre, if Fusitua is leaving, would be my priority. If these are sorted a fullback would be next on the list.

Handley will be the fullback going forward Smith has said this on more than one occasion.

I dont think hes ever come out and said that Handley will 100% be the fullback. Just commented on that he can play there. Hes quickly gone back to winger now weve got players back.

It's not an easy call, but I disagree on giving Austin more than one year. Despite his passion and performances of late, he's too old and inconsistent, unless he's prepared to be used as more of a squad player closer to the second year. Some tough calls need to be made on the spine, and I hope that we're able to bring in better quality players or promote from within if the talent is there.

Tbh, I think that while Myler is pretty consistent at FB, he shouldn't have been given another year on his current contract either. Fine if he's happy to play where he's needed if a better FB becomes available. But he should never be our first choice half-back; even Leeming was significantly better in this position.

It all depends on who else is available next year and would they be better than Austin, that's the key here. Austin has been very good in the main this season. He's definitely worth retaining until we can bring in an improvement. But as i say, it depends on sever other matters, also if Sezer going we can't realistically replace both in one go.
