It's a tough one for Leeds tbh. Obviously you don't want a player that doesn't want to be here but you also would want a replacement and a fee for him.

I'd try for fee and be shut of him tbh.

Make them pay fee. Don't release him until they do. players and NRL clubs need to realise that contracts mean something. We should let him rot on the sidelines, and fine him wages if he stays in Australia.

If they pay a decent fee then let him go but he might get a bit of a surprise that Cronulla might not be that desperate to get him if it involves dishing out a transfer fee, they weren't desperate to get him before his option deadline and I'm sure they got other options they can spend Ben Barba's wages on without waiting around whilst this drags on.

As for rotting away in Australia for two years if he doesn't want to come back, yeah I'd let him do that and fine him as much as we can for missing training but I'm not sure he would. Remember he's already shown his hand really if you think about it. He didn't have to take up the option with Leeds and could've gone back to Australia with no team to play for but he didn't want to do that.....so is he suddenly going to stay in Australia with the prospect of no rugby for 2 years? I'm not so sure.

If Cronulla aren't interested in splashing the cash then I actually can still see him ending up back with us next year and letting him go at the end of it before the 2nd year of his deal.

No I'm not.

Personally I hope the club stand firm & make him honor the contract he signed only a few weeks ago, or let him buy himself out of his contract. I do believe under EU law a person with sports contract can pay the club the remaining value of a contract to become a free agent.

Agree with all of this, let's hope Gawy is actively looking for a replacement cos let's face it, Segs ain't coming back.

Forget that, if he wanted he could have made it quite clear at the end of the season that he would be looking elsewhere, giving us chance to get someone else, but he signed with us because he didn't have a better offer.

Danny buderus left a year early, but he let us know early (or at least before our preseason already started!), and there was no hard feelings (I was gutted for him that he got injured so he couldn't play origin one more time).

If none will buy him out then he can either play for us, or play for none with no pay, his choice...

While I understand the sentiment, I know of no player being frozen out of the game in the way some advocate. I don't see it happening now tbh.

All this fuss about an average player , most probably due to the bollox talked about the number 9 position by the resident SKY baldy for 2 decades , making out they are some kind of Super Heroes

Surely you have a kid in the reserves who can pick up and pass the bloody ball
