Yes, Agar quoting as saying that in Leeds Live, however he does also saying out of contract players will be given the chance to prove themselves first. GH, KS and Agar meeting to discuss today.

The problem is that ALL of our OOC players - barring Prior - are totally inconsistent and absolute 'rocks or diamonds'.

Id rather us play well consistently rather than crap for 4 games and amazing for 1.

That's half the reason we are in this mess.

2021

Hurrell (OQ M) - Much like Parcell, Cuthbertson - amazing for the first season or so and then worked out and negated by all teams easily. Would keep on reduced money.

Martin (OQ) - Misses far too many tackles, much like Mellor - real turnstiles. Good kicker and would keep solely for that.

Lui (OQ) - No comment. Release

Vuniyayawa (OQ) - Release.

Prior (OQ) - He wont want to stay and suspect will retire.

L Briscoe - Release - Championship standard

A Sutcliffe - Keep. Tackles hard and good utility

McLelland - Release. See Luke Briscoe

Holroyd - Keep but needs gametime.

Apparently recruitment will be focused on the back row, and we'll look to use Hurrell's marquee spot on a full back.

So it sounds like if Hurrell stays he'll be taking a pay cut.

I can't think of many full backs we could get even on marquee money, maybe Dufty at St George.

We have Walker ( if healthy ) and Myler contracted plus potentially Eastwood so FB for a marquee spot is a strange one unless its Jake Connor. 3 quality signings plus a back up prop/back row is spot on if we get the right positions

If we had a squad in 2022 something like this I'd be pretty happy and confident we can compete for silver wear bearing everyone stays fit and healthy for majority of Season.

I think Prior will leave and return too Oz but would be really happy if we resigned him on a 1 year extension, Lui won't get a new deal unless he some how transforms our attack when he returns from injury if he gets in squad. L.Briscoe isn't a bad back up winger does a solid job but we have Handley who is nailed down on one wing and T.Briscoe has another year left so Tindall needs too be our back up winger next season and if he kicks on could be first choice with Handley for 2023. I've put Vuniyayawa in 2022 Squad as it's too early too properly judge him he can cover our pack and has a lot of this season too prove he deserves another deal. I think Hurrell will get another deal 2-3 years probably on reduced terms and not marquee money but will take up a bit of our cap. Martin will probably get offered a new deal but like others have said he might want a return too Oz with him starting a family and he has been very rocks & diamonds since we signed him in 2019. I think the club will stick with Mclelland as well for a little bit longer see if he develops his game any more. I hope we can get our recruitment sorted for next year as I think next season we need to be considered a force in super league again we've been rebuilding a little too long but I think we are 2-3 players off being major contenders again.

Appreciate that we currently have injuries and you have obviously given this a lot of thought however if Prior leaves and we get a like for like replacement it's essentially the same squad as this year with a new half! Not sure that's going to be enough to challenge at the top end.

Not sure Martin will be offered a new deal tbh. Can't carry him just for his goalkicking

Well, if we’re going to make some quality signings then I’m assuming the main fishing pond is NRL, which means probably more than Lui on way out.

You would imagine King, Lui and Martin are the players under most pressure. Maybe Prior will go (hope not). If we get these decisions right, the addition of 3 NRL-experienced players could be a real boost.

Has anyone seen enough in King yet to think we might retain him? Seems to make decent yardage.
