Perhaps. And if it was to be an overseas back row I’d rather it be someone like fitzgibbon who can punch a hole and score, rather than a standard grafter.

Wouldn't say we'r well stocked for edge back rowers

At present we have 3 recognized first gradeers contracted for next season

Martin - Plays as muct centre these days
Gannon - Young and always unavailable
Mcdonnell

Could definitely use another, much rather that be Fitzgibbon than resigning Bentley

Also think we’ve seen the value of Donaldson the last couple of weeks.

If he’s happy to stay on similar money and a similar role, he’d be worth another year.

Where did I say you shouldn’t keep your junior talent?

Dupree is doing well now but he had to go the championship to mature as a player. You can’t keep all your youngsters, it’s just not possible. Wasn’t exactly pulling up trees when he was at Leeds.

Merrin was class (SOO and International honours) and arguably kept us from being relegated that season.


Don't underestimate the impact he had in his albeit short stint.

He does ok, but more of a 'middle' than edge back row, not too fussed if he stayed, but not as our fourth edge back rower...Recent history tells us that whoever that player is, they will be starting a lot of games.

It doesn’t sound like many of the out of contract players will be around next season

Austin, Bentley, Donaldson, Fusitua, Sezer, Tetevano, Tindall, Walters.

Out of that I wouldn’t be surprised if Austin, Bentley, Donaldson end up staying.
Fitzgibbon would be the first to come in and given the backs leaving, I wouldn’t be surprised if we bring another winger in.
