Seriously, we have to start improving the quality of our signings, they need to be significant improvements on what we have, and complimentary to the youth we are bringing through. We had a perfect recipe with the goldens, we need to go back to it instead of signing average players from lower clubs or divisions.
Bang on Batley
There's no reason whatsoever why a club like the Rhinos and especially with it's elite academy system couldn't manage with only 3 or 4 top quality overseas signings and then fill the remaining squad places with our talented kids.
At least then we could aim for far better overseas players in our spine positions.
If we lose Sam Walters due to Sam Lisone taking his squad place and also his development game time,
Then IMO we are going down the wrong pathway required in order to be bringing the successful trophy winning seasons back to Headingley
I would personally drive Fusitua,Sezer,Tetevano (As a marquee signing) and Lisone back to the airport tomorrow
The jury's still out for me on Martin as he has unfairly been playing in the centre's rather than in his best position in the back row when has played very well.
Austin has been trying his best this season, but we need far better quality in all of our spine positions moving forward
Of our uk based spine players moving forward then I do like Cameron Smith,Jarrod O'Connor & Corey Johnson (When Corey played for the England academy side in 2018 v Australia he was IMO the best 9 in junior rugby worldwide, although his time away from the game has certainly put him well down the pecking order at the club,But he does deserve the chance as he is a fantastic game managing 9 and also with great distribution skills too)
