I don’t agree. If we just let him out of his contract, that shows no respect to that contract, and it will encourage others to do the same. We can send him to train with the Academy so he doesn’t disturb the first team squad. He can wait for someone to show interest, or buy himself out of his contract if he wants a release.

Seems it was Smith who said he could leave.
Hetherington now saying we expect a fee and is still contracted to us and disappointed he wants to go.
Sounds like a clash of personalities with Leeming unhappy to be left out and threatens to leave for Smith to say go is my take.

I don’t like what Leeming has done one little bit. Extremely poor attitude imo and it looks like it’s been building for a while. It’s no wonder we’ve started so poorly overall this season.

Sounds like there's no relationship at all between Smith and Leeming. That could help explain issues within the squad, as Leeming's a senior player in his fourth season. He'll have his mates who he would have been talking to even if he wasn't talking to Smith.

Its not up to Smith to say whether Leeming will be released without compensation, and I don't think he was saying that - just that he wouldn't stand in his way.

All this Leeming thing stinks of a player throwing his toys out.

The timing of the leaks suggest it was leaked by him or his team an hour before KO on game day.

The fact there’s no deal done yet would suggest that interest isn’t a plenty. There is no way he should wear a leeds shirt again in my opinion - this has potential to be very disruptive if it’s not sorted and he’s out the door quickly. Clearly Kruise has a very high opinion of his abilities - not high enough to displace 2 novice 9s in the team though mind

Don’t be so hasty. Think he’s being encouraged to look elsewhere. I don’t rate him that high as a 9 , but always given 100 percent and was chosen by players as Captain. No need for any hostility toward him. Actually allows us to further strengthen if right players become available…..

He should never wear the shirt again imo. Thrown his teddies out instead of getting his head down and improving his game at time at a time when the team needs to come together and kick on.
