A gamble but a good one for Salford. Should guarantee a big payout if another club wants him, and in the meantime he's one of the best halfbacks in SL. So long as they have injury insurance I don't see much of a downside unless he decides to cruise for the rest of his career.

Its a win win for Salford.

Hes been a roaring success so far, he seems settled and its a rallying cry to other potential recruits that Salford are going to invest long term in the squad and start creating a sustainable and settled team. The only downside is if he incurs an injury or decides he wants out for some reason but Im sure there will be caveats and outs inside that contract that suit both parties.

Anybody any idea why the heck we let Hardaker go? Already looks massive error in a backline crying out for some solidity…..

We also offered nowhere near as much money as Leigh. Our cap was near its limit and there was only a certain amount we could make available.

Not sure Hardaker was 'always 8 out of 10'. As a centre he wasn't near that in attack most weeks. There's also no point going on about him, he's gone as surely as Brent Webb.

This is my point about the Olpherts signing. Personally I’d rather have had Zak than Derrell, he’s at least as high a quality player and provides much better cover where we are weak.

2 tries 4 assists since his return backs that up. I know stats never give the full picture but those must be miles off the much maligned Sutcliffes and probably even the bit part Newman's.
