People rating C/D clearly have no idea what Rohan is trying to do. We've had a massive turnover within the limitations of the salary cap, while adding much needed size to the pack and depth across a number of positions. We still have weaknesses, as our spine really isn't Sts standard as a group, but that will have to wait to 2024. Anyone expecting us to sign a bunch of superstars clearly doesn't understand how the cap works or how you reboot a team using homegrown talent at the core. It takes years, but then the success can last a long time, as we saw less than 20 years ago...
Great post. IMO great teams are made with a core of homegrown stars and a sprinkling of quality.
For RS to take the bloated mess he inherited and already trim that down to a leaner and meaner squad is no mean feat, our best business this season was getting a load of deadwood out the door, ruthlessly so infact. We were bemoaning on here before we wouldn't be able to shift certain players until end of 2023/24 yet within a few months in charge weve got rid of them and brought some decent punch in.
The better teams are built from within, weve proved it, Goons have proved it and Saints are THE benchmark for it. Theres a LOT more to come over the next two seasons for me, managing expectations and reality is the key and I think in Rohan weve hit gold.
