Pretty frustrating to watch again. The ruck was a complete shambles, pushing, laying in the ruck, hands on the ball. Im talking both teams. The sport needs to sort the mess out asap. The 6 again rule is exactly what I thought it would be, nobody has a clue what its given for, no signal other than 6 again is given which seems a random thing to me. Could be for anything. Farce.

The ref was poor I thought. He shouldve binned Gale for holding the Hull player back and how he gave a drop out after Myler was moved in goal was a very poor call. His 10 metres was very inconsistent for both teams, some was 12m some was about 7m. He wasnt upto it but he wasnt good enough for either team.

The conditions particularly 2nd half was terrible which made the game even less of a spectacle.

Our attacking structure is awful, the 1st receiver is far too flat which means he catches it stood still and under pressure and we have no players out the back. We didnt use any inside balls and when we drop a player off the angle they run onto the ball is totally wrong. The passing is slow and weve no pace at all other than Handley who wont get much ball with Tom Briscoe as his centre. Some players, Koni and Martin, are not fit enough and dont do enough. I thought Martin did ok but not enough from him as usual.

Again the effort and commitment from the team was outstanding and bar a couple of individual misses defensively we was good, though Hull helped with the errors they made in the 2nd half.

I.would prefer Koni with Ash on the same side as Gale with Myler linking which would give us some strike on 1 edge at lesst. We are diluting our threat by splitting Koni amd Ash up.

The pack did its job and fronted up well but weve a lot to fix up. Hull took the few chances they got and we had enough field position to win 4 games but wasnt good enough to turn it into points.

The biggest thing tho is that fans are back. Fingers crossed we get increased crowds soon.

Agree with most of that as usual Marty. To be fair the ruck in RL has been bad for a long time. Rules drive behaviours so it needs improving somehow.

I think we need to be realistic as to where the club is at. Are we a top 4/6 side? Maybe with a consistent first team and good pre-season but we haven’t had that and we’re already playing catch-up again with one eye on the Big R.

Even though I suspect we need a new coaching set up at Leeds it’s hard to judge this year with the amount of disruption. Players coming back from injury are rarely 100% from week one and we’re just going to have to be patient.

If sone consolation we did get over the line a couple of times for disallowed tries hut again some sloppiness in the lead-ups. We keep kicking to Mellor abs Sutcliffe on the edges but neither are any good in the air, they’re just tall.

Other than Oledskji & Prior plus Gannon when he came on we look clueless ruderless & a very ordinary Team with the ball.
Its ok saying they got stuck in & grafted but again as ive said previously that's a bare minimum requirement.
The Ref wasn't up to it but lets be honest we got as many poor calls for us as we did against us.
I genuinely dont see what Long is bringing & Agar imo is out of his depth.

Good post. For me we look poorly coached, we really do. I can’t help but feel a better coach would get more from the team, clearly we have players just coming back to fitness after long layoffs but Hull were there for the taking last night and we blew it.

The quality in our back line is poor, it’s very very average and needs sorting urgently. We’re heading for a relegation battle if we don’t start winning consistently soon. Thank the lord Leigh are so poor. It’s simply not good enough for a club like Leeds. We’ve had too much of this tripe served up over these last few years.

We have no pace at all. If teams kick deep to us there is no way we are going to go 80m to score in a set without a couple of penalties to get us to the opposition 20m. In defence of our attack the conditions made it hard to judge. Koni is only one capable of breaking a tackle but he hardly carried the ball last night and the chance of him getting quality early ball on the right edge is a near impossibility with Sutty and Martin inside him.

I genuinely dont see a win coming in the next 3 but i dont think we will be in a relegation battle either but you are right midtable shouldnt be accepted ever.

A change of coach wouldnt bother the coach. Maybe thats an issue.

After a night of reflection, I am still annoyed and frustrated.

Hurrell is seeing out his contract as nobody will take him. I have said this a few times about him. He loves clowning about in front of the Southstand, Instagram & Tik Tok. Yet can't put in the hard yards to loose the beef. He is overweight and looks sluggish and shot to bit.

There is commitment and people are correct about that. But commitment can only get you so far. We have too many average to poor players and they need shipping out.

The ref I thought was poor. But was he the one playing roly poly over the line when he should have grounded the ball? Was he the one with silly knock on's?

The whole club needs to have a serious hard look at themselves. For me, Agar would be gone this morning.

OUR ATTACK WAS PRETTY POOR. JUST WHAT IS LONG DOING? IT HAS GONE FROM AVERAGE TO POOR SINCE HE CAME ALONG

KONI AND MARTIN WERE AT FAULT LAST NIGHT FOR TRIES DOWN OUR RIGHT. SUTTY FOR ALL HE TRIES IS NOT A NUMBER 6

NEW ATTACKING COACH NEEDED URGENTLY BEFORE WE ARE DRAGGED INTO A RELEGATION BATTLE

This isn’t just about this one performance though, the frustration on here has been reflective of the performances people have seen throughout the last month and fully vindicated by it continuing. This has been evident even with players missing you could see key indicators were there regardless.

I would be tempted to try Hurrell on the left if he keeps his place. The theory that he defends better on the right was surely proved wrong last night.

Re: RD 7 | Hull FC (H) : Mon May 24, 2021 8:07 am
Was a very interesting game last night. I know people above are saying commitment is not enough, but in terms of the pack, I thought we were excellent. Apart from Hurrell being a shocking defender, our pack dominated with the field position and keeping Hull penned in near their line. I was shocked to see the YEP player ratings this morning, with Hulls props rated higher than hours. Surely we won the forward battle by far?

In terms of attack, we were dire and never looked to cause them much trouble. When I reflect on the attack of the golden generation, we were never amazing at breaking down teams on their own goal line, it felt like so much of our attack was based on an offload game with brilliant support plays. Any number of players could break the line, knowing their would be support from Webb, Mcguire, Burrow or Hall to back them up.

The issue with our attack is that I don't know what style we're trying to play. We don't try many set plays (admittedly weather was poor), players are all flat and too static, and we don't have many players running great lines. We seem to try these set up plays over and over, which means give it to Mik, Prior or Martin on an inside ball and let them run towards the posts. There's not much going after that.

From next week, Hurrell HAS to be dropped or moved to left centre. My preference for the backs, if no one new available would be Myler, Handley, Mellor, Broadbent, T. Briscoe.

Tindall and Broadbent get calls ups for me. Outside backs last night were all dire.
