Yes Leicester/Wolves are very similar in style but I think with the pace we have in our team we should be able to deal with the breakaway from deep that Leicester tend to use.
A draw would be a good result but I`m hoping for a 2-1 win tonight.

We've been our own worst enemies so far, we've gifted Leicester this so far.

What might have been had Bamford scored in the 2nd minute, but Leicester were much the better side. We were so sloppy with the ball.

Re: The ONLY LUFC Football Thread : Mon Nov 02, 2020 10:14 pm
Squad looked thin tonight against quality opposition. Massively missed Rodrigo and Philips. We were all over place 1st half and worryingly open in midfield there was zero protection for the defence. Having said that Koch and Cooper looked all over place as did Dallas. Left back defensively is a problem for us too.

Bamford had an absolute nightmare which is such a shame after last week. Thought the conditions suited Leicester style of play first half though.

Wouldn’t surprise me to see a defensive mid brought in during Jan.

We’ve had a very tough start though with Leicester Liverpool City Wolves played. Need to learn from this and improve. Leicester just had too much quality and depth on the bench

Shame to lose, and heavily, but a lot of positives. Coming back from that first half to be within a lick of paint of getting 2-2.

Could have been so different if bamford had scored at the start. On to next week

Not one positive from last night for me.
Probably our worse performance of the season.
Bamford could/should have scored 2 or 3 and Ayling and Koch especially in the first half were appalling.
No idea why Roberts came on for Hernandez.
For me he should have come on for Bamford as he is much better upfront than as a number 10.
Rodgers outwitted Bielsa last night I`m afraid.

Agree Chapy. Thought Leicester deserved huge credit. They had several defenders out too. Small margins in the Prem isn’t it.. Bamford misses a sitter they score within seconds. We chase the game against a very very good counter attacking team and it played right into their hands.

Couldn’t work out why Pablo came off either as he was looking very good in the second half. He was quit rightly miffed. For me we always look like conceding and that needs fixing.. Cooper looked like he belonged in championship last night too though I appreciate he’s just come back from injury. Llorente must be in with a huge chance when he’s fit.

I still think we should have brought in good cover for Philips

Re: The ONLY LUFC Football Thread : Tue Nov 03, 2020 11:06 am
The defence looked all over the place due to having nobody dropping back from midfield to give them an extra man in defence. I would have started the same defence that played villa, with Struijk in the DM, and I think Bielsa has admitted he picked the wrong team. Although, it makes no difference whose in the team if they can't string 3 passes together. Leicester were excellent, but we gifted them the first 2 goals.
I also think we didn't adapt well to the conditions, the conditions made passing the ball on the floor difficult, and made it easier for Leicester to press and win the ball back. We should have lifted the ball off the ground to allow the front 3 the run in behind. Leicester did that perfectly.

Palace will be another tough team to breakdown, but hopefully we can fix the issues from the Leicester game. The thing with the premiership is that every team has at least 2 or 3 genuinely world class players, so any mistakes you make are punished. Hopefully Raphinha will be back, the game was crying out for someone like him in the 2nd half.

Agree we needed cover in midfield hence why I was saying Barkley would have been ideal.
Whilst Cooper didn`t look too good he did look better than Koch and he needs to get back to match day fitness.
When Llorente is fit to play will he drop Cooper his captain or Koch?
I too would have had Struijk in the DM role leaving Klich to play a more attacking role.
We sort of nullified all our strengths and players who had started to perform well put in poor efforts last night.
If we struggled to contain Vardy I hope we have a plan to contain Zaha.

Palace won’t be easy at all. Play very similar to Leicester and Zaha is class.

For me when Llorente is fit longer term he has to play with Koch. They’re the best two defenders we have. Cooper looked frightened to death of Vardy last night
