Apparently we are trying to get Sammy Clingan from Coventry, he's 27 and plays as a defensive midfielder.
Meant to have been in some good form last year for Cov and only has a year to run on his deal. Says in the YEP that Leeds are planning to test the resolve of Coventry with a big money bid for Clingan, LOL. Wonder how much that is, anything around the £200k mark is a big bid for Leeds if we are buying. Small if we are selling but big if we are buying, we are a joke when it comes to transfers.
Also Davide Somma has done his ACL and will miss about 6 months which is a massive blow IMO, he did well last year and didn't get enough games but was improving and would have kept on improving but now this is a real setback for the lad. Becchio is also injured and could miss the start of the season so i cant see us letting Paynter go even if an offer comes in, i was hoping to get rid of him but now we're short on numbers with only him and McCormack as strikers. Hopefully McCormack gets the chance to start where he finished off last season, scoring goals and looking like the player he once was at Cardiff.
If we can keep Snoddy and Max, we've also got Sam and Nunez for competition, get another midfielder or two in and a good left back and GK we'll be okay for next year IMO. But midfield is the main area of concern along with a good GK, hopefully Stockdale on loan as he looked quality last year.
