No id like a top signing like Agar promised or Merrin wouldn't leave. So far we've signed Rhys Evans. Nothing been mentioned on Martins passort for the last month so I'd expect the much covered 22 shirt to he vacant a while we continue to cut costs.

Don’t think Agar ‘promised’ any such thing.

His hands are tied with regards to an OS signing until Martins passport is sorted, what do you actually want them to do?

We’ve also signed Prior, Mellor and Leeming.

To be fair I'm sure his words were something along the lines of "We certainly won't be letting him go until we have a suitable replacement"

What were they to do, keep him against his wishes, a signing may have fallen through or they felt a suitable replacement was from within the squad i.e Smith

Come on Chris you know full well Agar has said many times that we had a replacement lined up & had numerous options we were talking to.
Granted im sure he said it may not be the same position as Merrin but a replacement was promised.
The Martin passport thing came later once again big starements re-recruitment have been made & not carried out.
Of course Rhys Evans was a must its not like we have young lads who deserve a shot over a 27yr old has been with "experience".

I think what they were to do was acknowledge exactly the point you've made which would have been a perfectly sensible response rather than categorically stating they wouldn't release him unless a replacement was lined up, fail to complete the deal and then let him go anyway making themselves look a bit foolish. There was no reason for them to say that and noone would have argued if they hadn't. Because they chose to say that they now look daft because as things stand we're starting the season weeks later without a replacement in place

Agars words he won't leave without a like for like replacement and we won't be left short for sure we're his words.
