I'd like to think so. Let's not forget he played in 2 out of 3 grand finals before coming to us and as far as I know he wasn't picked for them on a "we've got nobody else" basis.

I just dont think Tetevano will work in SL given how keen the Refs are on cards and and the DC on bans.

Even when he has played he has been poor to average. Might be lack of consistent play time given he only gets a game until he's banned again

Not seen Ruan but heard he's one hell of a prospect.Hooley from his highlights looks a very good player.

Maybe talking to Hooley in case Hardaker leaves or as back up in any event? He looks like a big strong lad. From his highlights Ruan looks like he could play prop, which makes more sense than another back row. Harder to understand Olpherts unless Fusitu'a leaves.

Certainly looks like Smith has watched a lot of lower league rugby and looks like we'll have much better depth next season even if a few more leave. We've somehow managed to have both an imbalanced squad and one lacking in depth in key positions while paying up to the cap.

Strange signings, both Trinity rejects.

FWIW Hooley will never be a SL player. He’s talented but struggles under pressure. He never looked close whilst on our books and at that point we were a top 6 side.

Ruan is different. However so far he’s only ever looked good against second string opposition. So far he’s only been boys against boys. All the same if he can bring that to the top table and improve you could be on a winner.

Word of caution though. Ruan seems to have a very vocal band of family and friends. They seem to hype him up at every chance. Nothing wrong with that, but if you got that description from someone then I’m pretty sure that’s where it emanates from.

To be fair Ruan wouldn't be the first player 'rejected' as a kid who later made it, particularly in the forwards. There have been a few ex-Leeds juniors who've done well elsewhere, including Wakefield.

Hooley looks physically the part. I understand your point about pressure, but I guess we'll see - Smith seems very keen on bringing in younger players he can work with. Seems to be just a rumour at the moment anyway and the article I read suggested the bigger issue may be that he has a job and Leeds are unlikely to offer him enough to go full time in RL.
