He doesn’t count as he was signed when Widnes went into administration. We might be able to pick up some more overseas players who don’t count like this in the near future.

It’s for the duration of the first contract signed, or it used to be.

I hope we are after some signings. I fully appreciate the Covid impact, however saints have got Graham back and Joel Thompson, wire have inglis and Wigan have Bateman for next season.
We appear to have ward and Myler leaving and our stated position is we have not yet worked out our budget.
We need to be competing with those 3 clubs on salary cap spend or we won’t compete on the pitch.

I fear we will be left behind by Wigan Warrington and Saints as Peter Smith has said unless GH works some magic with investors.. watching with interest but I’m a bit worried tbh as I think we’re in stormy waters financially

A £4M loss in itself, whilst a lot of money, is far from terminal. Leeds have been profitable for quite some time now, so if I were GH I’d be trying to reduce outgoings a bit but not to the point where we recoup all that in a year or two. What really matters from a business side is that we return to profitability within the next 2 years (ie 2022 is profitable) and that he can get a bit of patience from the bank.

This is a hiccup, a pretty big one, but still a hiccup for Leeds. Other clubs might not be so lucky. Oh and he’s also going to play on how serious the situation is to appeal to the emotional side of the fans when they are trying to decide if they leave their money in this year.

Think you are forgetting the club has a massive debt already Batley. An additional £4m loss on top of that is a big concern.

I think the club should be more transparent about its finances if it is asking us to chip in. What are the current debts? Exactly what does a £4m loss mean, how is it calculated, what impact will it have? Are the players expecting to share the pain? What are the directors being paid? What financial actions are the shareholders taking? What dividends if any have they taken in the past? etc etc. I know some of this might be shown in past accounts, but that doesn’t deal with the future, and in any case most of us won’t know how to access this info. If the club can provide this info then I am sure many might be persuaded to chip in.
