I noticed they switched Newman and Sutcliffe after the first two tries went in down Sutcliffe's side.

Dwyer will be gone and that’s the right call despite moments of brilliance. We just can’t carry the rest.
Hardaker to FB next year.
Myler should be first choice with Sezer as his firm deserves it.
Sutty to go if we can get an offer. Upgrade at left centre needed.
Ex NRL 9, with Leeming off bench / back up would be brilliant (but unlikely).

If we get Hardaker signed up, and keep Walker, myler and sinfield is probably adequate halves cover.

They made a point of saying the new lad from Wigan is a Back row/ centre, and there will be Levi back too. A centre would have to be a big improvement over Sutty, and I don’t think you get that without using a quota spot. I also think there has been improvement in sutty under smith, and some of the defensive issues have been courtesy of Handley previously and young Tindall biting in, all fixable under a coach of Smiths quality.

9 wise I’d say Rohan seems happy with O’Connor and Leeming, with Johnson in reserve.

It is a shame Hudds got Levi this year, because he is quality and Smith spoke well of him from their time at North’s.

An Ex NRL would be expensive most likely over the hill so for mine no need.I rate Leeming can play big minutes we also have two understudies in O'Connor and Johnson.There has never been any whispers from Headingley that we are after a nine so I take that as Smith is happy with the situation.

Another hooker would be overloading us there. If Leeming stays fit our second hooker will be playing short minutes every week, and probably needs to be able to cover elsewhere to not be a waste of a sub. That would be the case if Dwyer stayed - he might not even be in the squad most weeks as Smith clearly rates O'Connor.

There's probably more of a question mark over Johnson than O'Connor, but Johnson will most likely be groomed as a backup halfback as well as hooker. That should give us enough cover there with Sezer, Austin, Myler and Smith able to play in the halfs as well.

Has Olpherts ever played centre or is he an out and out winger?
I mentioned before that Esah looked good playing for Fev and fits the young player type Smith is after and he plays prop.

I've been highly critical of Sutcliffe, who started as a red hot prospect but has gone backwards since. He's failed miserably as a half-back, looked distinctly below average as a full-back, and was largely anonymous in the second-row (admittedly he got through a lot of work there without doing much on attack). In recent weeks, as in glimpses earlier in his career, he's shown an ability to get across the whitewash when it matters at centre, some nice attacking play, as well as doing some good defence (against Wigan, if not Catalans - ouch). I reckon he is a centre, but just not a centre for a top 4 team (see Dwyer and hooker). Since we've let Broadbent go, who I assumed would take over in this position, it wouldn't be the end of the world if Sutcliffe stays, but a club of our ambitions should be aiming higher.
