Catalan just didn't change their point of attack enough and slogging it out wasn't going to get the better of St's. Pearce I don't think will match maloneys influence for them.

Yep, Catalans very poor.
Did they play any preseason friendlies? Maybe a bit slow off the mark if not.

I dunno, if we get our first choice side out we could look pretty good too I think this year. I can see us dishing out a hiding or two.

Hats off to Saints for how they've handled the loss of Thompson, hardly missed a beat. We need our senior players to perform this year, and a handful of the young ones to step up a level.

I just don't get on with McNamara. He coaches grubby.

Catalans had a point of attack? Wow I must have missed that. Saints we’re Saints and Catalans we’re dreadful. We should be confident going into this season.

that's my point, they didn't. It was all one dimensional aimed at 'bullying' saints out of the game, it wasn't going to work.

Any possibility of Fusitua at full back with Handley and Briscoe on the wings if too early for Walker? Guess would depend on whether Newman is fit or not.

Really looking forward to this match, particularly on C4.

Should be a cracker and I think Leeds will be great to watch this year.

Good that there is an air of anticipation about the game, and uncertainty about who will play. That suggests we have good options, and healthy competition for places. A luxury from our position last season.

I guess team will be dependant on who is fitter out of Walker or Newman.

For Smith, I can see him coming off the bench, when fatigue starts kicking in as a general tactic. It's worked well in the last couple of seasons, and makes better use of his skillset. Though with a pivot out, he may start to partially cover that gap.
