2021 | U17s / U16s Scholarship : Wed May 19, 2021 7:50 pm
Season starts tonight at hull with a 17s game, team made up of 1st year Academy players and second year Scholarship players. The second year Scholarship group this season is one of the poorer intakes over the last few year imo, the star of the group is Jack Sinfield, a classy half with superb vision, beutiful long and short pass off both hands and a rugby brain, very good young half. Two of the better players from this intake seem to have left the club already...Sinfields half partner from Saddleworth - Finn Rogers and Fev lions Prop/13 Billy Finnerty. Theres some good players who maybe wernt the stars of there age group when signed but have a Physical profile that could see them overtake there peers...Neil Tchamambe is a winger who already stands 6ft 4" and can shift, believe he's scored tonight. Dylan Proud and Tom Marris are pacey backs with good feet and Alfie Marshall is a silky running backrow, theres a couple of big props in Ged Brennan and Tobias Gibson and a hooker named Alfie Beresford whos a competitive, Angry 9. All this is taken from there u14 season so a lot could and will of changed but as a starting point, i dont see this as a strong group collectively but one with a star talent in Sinfield.
The first year scholarship is a very strong group for the club and the game in Yorkshire as a whole..2 of the best talents, a 13 from hunslet Park Side and Fullback from East Leeds have both gone to Warrington and the best half in Yorkshire imo has gone to Cas from the Kippax club. Despite not getting these lads, its still a strong group the club has put together. Mark Nelson is an absolute wrecking ball of a backrower who's as dominant at this age as the likes of Gannon were, Lloyd Mcewan Peters is a big imposing Centre with great hands and rock solid defence, Sonny Pattinsons a tall rangy Centre who glides in for trys from anywhere..Easily the best 2 centres in the Yorkshire league imo. Kai taylor Smith is a very good FB with an excellent step off both feet, Mason Corbetts an intelligent 9 with good decision making and distribution and Ben Finndlay is a tall wing who's rapid. As with the second years, even more so infact, loads can and will change with them being so young, an example of this is a lad called Joe Phillips from Siddal, last year id of said he was one of the poorer players in this intake, a tall, very thin back row...But since the season started a few week ago, hes's been the best forward on the pitch each time imo...Playing prop.
Again just a bit of info as a starting point imo for anyone interested and im interested on other peoples thoughts on these and some of the lads i havnt mentioned
