| The one area I’d like to see a big improvement in today is our kick chase. We are terrible at getting on the end of a high attacking kick and competing for the ball. It’s an integral part of the game nowadays, and we are really poor in that regard. We also need to get up quicker as a team when the ball is kicked into opposition territory. Unfortunately I think our deficiencies in these areas are due to not having fast, athletic enough players to turn the screw and get up there quickly enough either individually or as a team. I also don’t see us threatening teams from long distance with ball in hand due to the same flaws. I hope we compete well today or the storm clouds will be gathering overhead again.

| Yes Riley Lumb was excellent last night. Made the most carries out of yardage as well.
Starting middles were outstanding. We have to get Cooper Jenkins tied up on a longer term deal now. NRL will want him back for sure.
I don’t see how Frawley gets back into this team unless for injuries.
Sinfield really added some crispness to our dummy half play. That said JOC got through 50 tackles and really led our defensive line. If he could sharpen up his passing he’d be ideal starting hooker.
Lisone again contributed very little. Good last ditch tackle to stop his breakaway try but he stumbled before anyone even got to him. My eight year old asked after 3 mins of him being on if he has a problem with his breathing…

| For the first time in ages, it feels like there is a foundation to actually build on.

| Very good performance all round - everyone - Lisone apart - made a contribution.
The forwards were excellent and set a platform. Not sure about the centres really work and Hall it looks a season too far.
Sinfield looks like a different player this year he added some quality when he came on and Lumb will be an international when he bulks up.
The defence was very tight all night and the willingness to chase back was admirable.
On Wigan - Smith is a class player

| Looking at the stats our completion rate was only 66% and Wigan's 90%, despite that we still made 300m more. Half the ptb in the opposition 20 too.
Cut down the errors and the foundation is there.
Miller, Mik, Gannon and Jenkins have some pretty impressive numbers. Jake Connor involved in all out points, inked in at half now surely.

| A good all round team performance, as it needed to be to get the result. No passengers apart from Lisone’s limited input, and some pretty strong performers out there. No mention of Bentley as yet, but I thought he really took the fight to Wigan in that 1st half, defensively and with his carries. I also think Miller is underrated in some aspects of his game, he reads well defensively, gets through a ton of work and is a durable fella. He’s made a big difference bringing the ball back. Lumb had another really good game and the pack more than held their own which is encouraging. We are still struggling with the ball in hand near the opponents line and that’s a worry, so Jake Connor’s kicking from half back is going to be vital until we find a cutting edge. At least we look like we have something to build on and can at least look forward to The Wire game.
