Its not about treating players badly so they leave, its being honest about the fact they just won't get picked.
From there its up to them. DR is limited so its a long loan or they move on.
If anything our current squad suggests hard conversations haven't been had and as a result some players have kidded themselves that they just have to hang around long enough to get picked.
Which players are these then? The club seems to have let it be known of whom it wants rid. Some - Cuthbertson & Parcell - are being selected, so no need for that conversation there. Ormondroyd and Walters weren't being picked and have gone which suggests the club had spelled out their positions to them. Golding and Mullally remain and presumably aren't fighting off too many offers from prospective employers, many of whom will have their own cap issues right now. I suspect these two are probably well aware of where they stand but why would they rush when chances are they'll get better offers if they wait? Golding might in any case get picked if Walker's form becomes a problem and Mullally is, I believe, getting a business up and running so can probably afford time out of the firing line and maybe even appreciates it. No, I think it likely that the club has told players exactly where they stand.
