My dad thinks the "?" one is Pickup, but he is unsure.
Fred Pickup ???? IIRC
Cant say for sure either. I cant recollect him for some reason. Not sure he played in the championship team.
If the mssing player was Cowan then it would match the 1970 team against Saints.
16 May, 1970
Leeds 12 v St. Helens 24 (Odsal, Bradford) - Championship Final
LEEDS: Holmes, Smith, Hynes, Cowan, Atkinson, Shoebottom,
Seabourne, Burke, Crosby, A. Eyre, Ramsey, Eccles, Batten.
Subs: Langley, Hick.
Tries: Cowan, Smith.
Goals: Holmes (3)
Referee: Mr. W.H. Thompson (Huddersfield)
Attendance: 28,447
A glorious morning saw thousands of Leeds supporters set off in
high spirits to take possession once again of the Rugby League
Championship Cup, but not only the weather disappointed
(including thunder, lightning and hailstones) but a below form
Leeds had to admit defeat to a better team on the day. Hynes
and Shoebottom (after a knock) were particularly quiet, and after
a fantastic try by Cowan, who beat four men, we all expected much more from the league leaders. It was not to be, and so the 1969/70 season finished on a sad note - the European Cup, League Leaders Trophy, Yorkshire League Championship and Lazenby Cup being our ration this year.
