Leeds Rhinos star Rob Burrow will have further tests this week after being knocked out in the first half of the Rhinos Carnegie World Club Challenge clash with Manly Sea Eagles however the scrum half said he was feeling well after the game. Burrow was declared in the starting line up after overcoming a back injury that had ruled him out of the first three games of the season. However, he suffered a crunching tackle from Anthony Watmough in first half at Elland Road which left him unconscious on the pitch and he had to be helped from the field. Speaking after the game Burrow said, “I can’t remember anything about it but I am feeling fine now. It was one of those things and I was really grateful that our medical team were on the spot straight away and took care of me.” Head Coach Brian McClennan revealed after the game that the medical team had advised that Burrow did not come back on in the second half. “The health and well being of our players is paramount to us at our club. Rob is fine now and he will have a cogsport test in the week to check that there are no problems going forward. He wasn’t a risk going into the game as we had managed his recovery well, we are a determined club and want to win trophies but we would never risk a players health. There was no chance he could come back on in the second half and the medical team told us that, it was one of those things and we will always make the same decision.” |
