Shenton : Sat Feb 20, 2010 2:05 pm
After what looks like losing one of our brightest young english players in Owen for the season im abit concerned about another in Michael Shenton.
We have an english international in the backline but we dont play to his strengths,he hardly gets the ball playing outside of
Ferres and only seems to get his hands on it regular when he has a run from dummy half.

So before his confidence gets shot does anybody else agree a change in play in attack to utilize what real talent we do have
or a positional change?.

I cant see T.M changing the attack so.....try Shenton at full-back?

He is sound in defence and good under the high ball (better than Mcgoldrick anyway), plus he can follow the play in attack
from the back where he can follow up breaks and off-loads with his pace.

Then,Terry can (finally)try Mcgoldrick at centres,he and evans wouldnt be too bad would it?, one solid, one abit off-the-cuff.

Turning a good centre into an international full-back has worked before, think Joe Lydon and Tim Brasher in Oz. Thoughts?

Full Back or actually pass the ball to England's best centre are logical moves, but Matterson has air where most people have a brain so we wont see either, I wouldn't be surprised, or complain if Shenny, Huby and Owen all leave because of the muppet coach.

Don't think that one would harm you.

To soon IMHO for the hype surrounding Owen.

For me Shenton looks the business in every sense, a very complete player. For once I agree with your asessment, he is the best young centre in SL and probably need a little more ball to really excel.

Could'nt agree more!!!! but knowing how Matterson works he will probably put Huby at fullback and Shenton in the pack!!!

Brian McDermott paraphrased Peter Fox.
"He'd say if we had 13 Bernard Dwyers we wouldn't lose many RL games. It's the same for us with JJB"

wasnt terry the best coach in the world at headingley recently?
how long before a matterson out campaign?
how fickle are you lot?
youve obviously had a tricky start to the season fixture wise,i would expect your results to improve over the season though

Corrected.

Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. Who needs flankers' grammar was actually correct.

HTH.

Na you lot were just cr@p  TM has always had a bonkers side. Widders at stand off at Leeds last year, we get thrashed. Snitch at stand off against Bradford, we get thrashed. Anyone else see a pattern? You don't mess with your 6, 7 and 9. Simple as that.
