From the outside, looking in... : Mon Feb 01, 2010 9:19 pm
I look through the other clubs of SL and wonder how their fans feel about the new season.

I would imagine Leeds fans pretty buoyant as Champions, maybe Saints fans a little wary after undergoing some change. Huddersfield fans a bit peeved at the teams 'off field' antics, but optimistic about on field performance. The 3 teams that missed out on the top eight, Hull, Wire and Bradford have all recruited well, so fans will be excited at the prospect of seeing their new stars. HKR fans, possibly nervous as to achieving last years heights, but will back them to the hilt for 80 mins in every game. Wakey have already got off that big fat zero points and recruited well. I'm not sure about Wigan and then there's the others...

At a guess, I would say their fans would say about us - that we play good rugby, have the likes of the kids Shenton, Owen and Westy to look forward to and last year Rangi Chase impressed every supporter, so will be envious of him in our team. They may also think we have a good coach, good vocal support and things are rosy after a top 8 finish last year.

With the majority of people unhappy with recruitment, the ground issue always on the horizon (or not, as the case may be), I'm wondering if the boo boys will leave it till the 2nd home game, or as last year, start as they mean to go on and boo em in the first ?!

LEEDS WHINOS OFFICIALLY THE WORST PITCH IN THE LEAGUE

Re: From the outside, looking in... : Mon Feb 01, 2010 9:34 pm
Well depends i suppose PF if the fans see a dire effort, then anything could happen, id rather see a demo to the board to focus them on strengthening the squad, but even this id recon would be a waste of time. they dont listen unless it saves them money..

Disco - Expansion of the game is a good thing, undoubtedly, but in the main what people simply want to assert is that you don't kill the roots to spread the tree.

The Curtism - The battles are fought on the field and the friends are made in the bar. There's no hatred among real men.

Or you could always back the lads who are in the team, and join the thinking that a settled team may play better with less time needed to gel the new faces.

Just a thought...

A great thought Walton, I'm all for that. My post was tongue in cheek and after so many years stood in the WRE I have become very cynical of the blokes who stand around me in there now. In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have started a thread that may cause more negativity.

I keep jumping from WRE to the Princess st. and back...
Both can be pretty dire for "Support".

I can't see the logic in booing your own team...I couldn't do what they are trying to do for me.

My reply was more for Tigerman, I'd rather not see a demo against the board but RW laying a brick and hopefully that is why we are having the year of consolidation to use money elsewhere.

Getting older is mandatory; growing up is optional.

I think that sums it up well - the priority is the stadium at the moment and everything else (playing squad included) is secondary. That's not to say that we shouldn't have a competitive squad. A year together combined with a year's development and few changes should be a major benefit to the squad as a whole.
