i went last night and it was a cracking game with cas fighting back from 10-6 down at half time.

there were quite a few that stood out for cas.

ryan brierley- a stand off who tbh looks sheer class in the making, his only downside at the moment is his composure as he tries to do everything when sometimes the easy option would be better,he scored one try by backing up and standing the hkr full back up and had a hand in two others, reminds me of a young danny mcguire.

jordan thompson- played full back last night scoring one try and bombing two others, looks a yard faster than anybody else at this level and full time training certainly shows compared to others.

clarke thompson- built like an old fashion prop with plenty of bulk but he puts in a good shift for a big lad and isnt scared to run hard and straight, hkr`s looked scared of him all night and he made yards for fun and capped a fine performance with the match sealing try,a lot of work to be done by him to get into shape but this kid has a future in the game.

Ryan Brierley looked fantastic on the highlights video on the official site a couple of weeks back.

I think he is only 16 or 17 so he still has another couple of years at Academy level.

Can see him being shoved into the first team squad next year, if he doesn't get his chance earlier. Back-up stand-off in 2010, I'd assume.

Doubt everything, even this

One thing about TM: he seems to work on the basis that if they're good enough, they're old enough.

I recall him saying at the back end of 2006 that if it hadn't been for the relegation dogfight he wanted to give Joe (who would have been 16 then??) a good run

That's what I thought. Might be interesting to see if Brierley materialises over the second half of the season in the first team.

Could have done with someone like him over last few games at stand-off to enable Faumuina to go back into pack and Chase at hooker.
