O/T Selwyn RIP : Fri Feb 13, 2009 1:56 pm
At the start of a new SL season felt I had to give my respects to the loss of great guy, Cas Tigers follower and sport in general supporter, in the late Selwyn Bridges.
Having just returned from his funeral ceremony at Holy Cross Airedale it was a case of spot the faces from the past, Knocker, Bill Bryant, Mick Morgan even a ref, FFS in the shape of Ben Thaler all there to pay respects to a great guy.
The church was packed to 'bustin', with the eulogies relayed to the public outside by load speaker which must have number in the hundereds, and seldom can Fryston Road have had such a public turn out of sympathy for Margaret and family, the playing of 'The House of the Rising Sun ' before the start of the service said it all.
It would be appropriate if some sort of remberance to Selwyn could be relyed to the crowd at the game on Sunday's against Harlequins, as he was an avid supporter of the Tigers at under 18's, Reserves and First Team fixtures and Wheldon Road will be much the poorer for his sad and early demise.
RIP Selwyn
