Interesting reading some of the comments in this thread but come on guys lets not get into a arguement about money again.
Two great SL clubs that are as iconic and proud as any need to plan survival for the good and future of RL in this area. Stop this off field bitching and lets focus on rugby.
2013 could be the year that shapes rugby in the 5 towns area!!!

Rumour has it that CT board are gonna meet soon to discuss something on a similar lines. I think as supporters we have to bite the bullet and look to the future.

Without doubt the most sensible post on this topic, well said.

Sadly, bitching is more important than the future of the game in this area to a few from both sides.

Cas would benefit greatly as they'd keep any money from sale of WR.

All hypothetical of course because we have been trying to sell WR for the last 6 seasons to no avail.

And no, it wouldn't make sense. I'd rather own my own stadium than be renting one.

Like you own your stadium!

Take away all the loans and restrictions etc held against it and you'd be lucky if you owned cubicle two in the main stand toilet block. No club really owns its ground these days. Wigan rent, Hull, Saints and Warrington and others either rent or own a share in the stadium company. However this is not the same as an asset in that the club cannot borrow against the land value. Even the much vaunted Headingley is not owned by the club but by a consortium led by Mr Caddick.

The truth is that modern property prices (even when it's good land and WR isn't) are not high enough to support the debt and running costs of a modern SL club. A stadium like WR certainly will never produce enough capital to allow it to be improved. There was a time in the days of members clubs when it mattered but not now.

I think you need to be more realistic.

what ever the loans are against WR, it is still owned by the club, what ever the club do decide to do they will have to do the majority of it themselves,(we don't have them little bowls) for a fan of a club who don't even own the locks on the front gates, i don't think Cas will be taking advice from over the common on how to handle it's funds, or lack of them

If you sold WR off and paid off all debts/loans how much do you think the Cas club would have left over.

And at least we lock our front gates, can't believe you've just used that line

their might not be a lot left but the club would still be in the black, no ground,, but in the black, & to take stall in what a Person who only posts negativity wont give you a even tilt on what happened, if a gate was left open it only gives you entry to the car park...

like most of the people who post what will happen next im going to have to learn to take it with a pinch of salt and wait for the official announcements, i get drawn in to easily ( no offense to you EL Ray )

Good question but both clubs have debts apparently! - as a second CCJ for £10,000 was awarded against WTWC's 3 days ago (Thats £16,000 in total since the 29th November)

So you can't answer my question then, maybe a bit of "nearer" homeworks needed :(
