I'm pretty sure that's how it works.
That is how if works for 2011. However, I'm pretty sure that the maximum overseas quota players reduces from 5 to 4 next year. I remember this being stated when Wigan signed the three Melbourne players, and stated that they were disappointed not to give Hoffman a longer contract but were unable to due to the reduction of overseas quota players allowed in 2012. I've also been trying to think of any clubs with 5 overseas quota players signed for next season to disprove my theory but I'm struggling on that one too (although I'm sure HKR will have 13).
Also,Half backs at Warrington next season then...Briers,Myler,Ratchford, Monaghan & Chase?
Somebody will have to leave or its all Bolloxs!
right in regards to salary cap we have lost 2 big hitters
king (highest paid player in superleague) Louis anderson (was on a fair bit)
we have also released
jon clarke (10 year player on a decent wage)
also i am sure there is a couple more on way out!
in regards to halfbacks
fair play Briers and myler yes half backs
unless you have lived abroad nd not watched rugby ever Monoghan is a hooker! and Ratch is being brought in to be a full back to relieve hodgson
i believe rangi being brought in to cover briers or myler also i think he would make a good hooker if you look at his skill set good quick feet good distribution he could cover quite a few positions
Cas keep saying our commercial dept is so super and bringing in record sponsorship - yet we cant compete in the player (or coach) signing market and have lost another kid due to poor contract offers. Our crowds and season tickets sales are solid and improving , we had a good cup run- so why are cas so far adrift of clubs like , hudds , quinns , hull kr and now widnes ?? the only thing I can think of is that they generate better income via sponsorship , marketing and corporate initiatives.
Presume you've not read the Superleague franchise summaries?
Huddersfield, Quins & Hull KR were all noted as being reliant on the financial support of their board or chairman/CEO whilst Cas were described as a well run self sustaining club.
In other words Cas only spend money they generate whereas the others receive handouts from people associated with their club.
I've said it before but until we move into the new stadium which will massively increase our income streams we can't compete with other clubs within SL. This was another factor the RFL recognised in their summary of Cas' franchise application.
