The saying 'bent as a 9 bob note' has now been dropped.....corrected phrase is 'bent as the RFL!'

Re: Well done lads : Sat Feb 06, 2010 12:44 am
A great win from a superb 'team' effort tonight. As the first game of the season, our defence was superb with the full team supporting each other.

It was great to see big Joe getting over the line. He really had to fight to get over that last 5 or 6 yards, and the reward for doing so was clear to see on his face. I hope that it brings him some confidence back for the season.

Huby, and Higgins tackled like demons. Good to see them enjoying the big hits.

McGoldrick was a bit out of sorts for the first half, and had Owen playing wing and fullback to bail him out at times. However, Goldy also got some confidence back for the second half.

Rangi and Shirwin played well, and things improved greatly after we started sending grubbers through rather than high bombs to the corner.

Raza....a good Captains performance. When Leeds didn't slow the play of the ball, he made good quick yards and looked threatening.

Evans, and Shenton both Solid. Wainright....not so sure...perhaps went off injured??

Mitchell...not 100%, maybe injured aswell. Widders, only played about 30 mins and barring 1 mistake was solid. Jackson was solid in defence, as was Ferres and Snitch.

Closing thoughts, the boys played for each other....as a team. Well Done

Re: Well done lads : Sat Feb 06, 2010 1:10 am
Excellent win. I doubted we would get anything before the game but how wrong was i? Im sure alot of us (maybe most?) thought we would get beat before the kick off.
Thought everyone played well. Special mentions to Chase and Shifty whose kicking game was excellent especially the 2nd half. Jackson, Hudson, Snitch, Huby and Higgins were all solid. Goldy played well for me at the back but i'd still like Owen there instead long term. All in all a great team performance and a great night for Cas. Got to back it up next week in what will be a tough game against Wire.

"I'm sorry, but I would hope that we would beat Cas with a 1 day turnaround."

An arrogant Wigan fan a few days before we stuffed them 18-4 at the JJB.

Re: Well done lads : Sat Feb 06, 2010 1:18 am
Just got back to Manchester from the game, brilliant performance, proved so many people wrong, myself included. We need to be consistent though!!!
Our defence was superb, Jackson Snitch Huby Higgins Jones etc. Hudson and Westy were superb too. Goldie had a decent game in my opinion. And Rangi and Sherwins kicking game in the last 25 minutes was superb, it was textbook and they didn't have much of an answer. Fair play to the gracious rhino fans too. I still think you'll come good and win the lot. But tonight, for the first time in 8 years, is Cas' night :D

That backrow of Westerman, Snitch and Ferres should provide the backbone of a solid forward pack for many years to come, well done Cas.

Congratulations, Seems from all accounts you ran rings round the rhinos. Well done.

Then you have not read all the accounts, Leeds broke cas open many times and followed it up by throwing the ball away! We made unforced error after unforced error and our kicking game was a no starter. Cas got a foot hold in the game and chase short kicking game was out of this world, cas took the spoils. Leeds lost ablett after 5 mins and delaney after 50 mins and looked unorganised as cas grew in confidence and were well worthy of a good win. If any team throws away as much ball as Leeds did tonight they will get beat 9 times out of 10.

well done to cas I had no problem clapping them on the final whistle
