Reading through this thread there is some true comments amd some people trying to get one up on one another
Firstly what is happening at Fev on the field over the last two years is excellent from 15s to Scolarship to first team and this in my opinion is because we have one of the best coaches in England who could easily coach us in S/L. The question is are we running the systems better than the bottom of S/L clubs with no funding and how could we improve with the help our S/L friends get
The next problem is our stadium. As far as we are been told things are going well the club are applying for funding and they hope to have the stands up this time next year. Theres reasons why they have not started and this was explained at the first fans forum If over the next 2 years the stadium is improved and we are open and honest with the RFL about how quick things are to be completed this must be a positive you cannot lie for ever
At the moment our league matches have been 2000 this year and i believe with the work that our new CEO Craig Poskitt (who left a S/L club)is doing these have the potential to improve and they are one of the best in the championship
MC is improving the turnover and Poskitt is getting the sponsors and the publicity we are getting from the press of late is excellent If we dont stand still and continue to improve off the field the club should be in a very good position in two years time
If in that time we are running the club efficiently and the RFL think that with the extra money S/L clubs get we could be better that someone who is in S/L then we should be given our chance if not we will have to stop in the championship
Regarding the players that have come through and left that is what i would expect when the S/L door is shut for three years If Zac had been told he couldnt leave what message would that send out to other youngsters who thought they were going to be good enough for S/L they wouldnt come My worry would be if we were in S/L and they were leaving
As for the comment about Fev not been able to play like they did against Cas and Wigan week in week out i agree we wouldnt but if we entered S/L we would have full time pro players that were not at work 5 days a week and training a few hours on a night. A full time team that were looked after and coached by DP would compete in S/L no problem maybe not at the top but would not in my opinion finishing bottom
Time will tell two years is a long time and the present clubs at the bottom may improve and if they do it will be hard for the RFL to include Fev or another Championship club but if they dont who knows.
It will also be interesting what is in store because i think there will be a two tier S/L and there will be some S/L club complaining when they are put in the second tier so London can stay where they are
