Firstly I think this is terrible for the Bulls fans, players and staff and I genuinely feel sorry for them. Having said that I won't be pledging/donating any money towards supporting their current owners who have allowed this to happen. They should be accountable for this and I think begging the "rugby league family" for money to cover up their failings is disgusting.
They can blame whoever they want but it looks to me like they attempted to buy their way back into the top 4 by throwing money away and now they are hoping that their own fans and the wider RL community will give them that money back to survive...but for how long?
The other thing that I don't like about this whole situation is the way in which everybody has been taken in by it. Where were the "RL family" fundraisers when Wakefield were on the verge of collapse last year? Nowhere because the likes of Wakefield and Castleford are considered expendable by many. There will have been Bradford fans happy in the knowledge that they were safe and thinking "They should have got their stadium sorted, stuff them" and now look where they find themselves.
Jamie Peacock said on Twitter yesterday "A SL without the Bulls is not an option" - didn't see him campaigning for Cas or Wakey during the last round of franchises. In fact just 2 years ago he was calling for a reduction in teams in Super League. Presumably Castleford, Wakefield, Widnes and Salford would have been an option for the chop in order to get the 10 teams he wanted to compete.
Again, I genuinely feel bad for the Bulls fans and the people involved with the club who have had no part in this situation but if they are able to save the club with donations I sincerely hope that it doesn't simply happen again months or years down the line.
