played in the same panthers team as me, lynch from kippax way i think if you look at the map like ponty is quite close to cas! not many bradford born player in SL is my point, and before you start most cas born players will have been born in ponty as thats where the hospital is, all the success your team had a few years back and still cant fire players out like cas, wakey or wigan!
Thought pontefract had its own town hall and dewsbury..so how come they cas...is dewsbury not closer to bradford then..ie cleckheaton..castleford is close to wakefield..is anyone born in cas from wakey then???

Reckon you will find a lot of Cas people were born in Pontefract, but only because there's a maternity hospital there, it's a bit of a red herring when you hear someone like Tim Bresnan is Pontefract born, when he's spent all his life in Castleford (other than the first couple of days or so).
Ah right didnt know that..so who exactly is from cas then in bradfords squad or in fact running around superleague, since there is alot more cas lads than bradford.

May I just point out a few things.
People aren't regularly born in Pontefract Town Hall. However, they are born in the Maternity Unit of Pontefract General Infirmary, which serves the town of Castleford as well.

Pontefract does not have its own Dewsbury. Indeed, Dewsbury is a town in its own right, situated 15-20 miles away.

They usually come to Cas by road or rail. Not many people tend to fly as the distance doesn't warrant that method of travel.

Depends what you mean. If you mean "Is Dewsbury not closer to Bradford THAN it (Dewsbury) is to Cleckheaton?" the answer is yes. Dewsbury isn't closer to Bradford than Dewsbury is to Cleckheaton. Also, if you mean "Is Dewsbury not closer to Bradford THAN it (Bradford) is to Cleckheaton?" the answer is still yes. Dewsbury isn't closer to Bradford than Bradford is to Cleckheaton. But you could also mean is Dewsbury closer to Cas than Cas is to Bradford THEN that is Cleckheaton (from which I take you to mean a trip from Cas to Cleckheaton via Bradford). This time the answer is no. Dewsbury is much closer to Cas than Cas to Cleckheaton via Bradford. However, what relevance this has to a RL forum is unclear, and wouldn't you be better off using AA Milemaster?

This is always a problem. If you live in Agbrigg, Sandal or Wrenthorpe then Castleford is a long way from Wakefield. However, if you live in Sydney, Australia, then Castleford is close to Wakefield. So I suppose you can please yourself on that one.

The word "from" can confuse the issue, here, as indeed can the word "wakey" [sic]. Checking the meaning of the word "from" (http://www.yourdictionary.com/from), you find it has many meanings, including: "at a place not near to; out of contact with: used to express absence, removal, separation, etc.," along with: "out of the possession or control of; free with respect to," and: "out of the whole of; out of unity or alliance with." So, using the word from in these respects, you are probably correct.
Incidentally, "ie." stands for "that is" whereas "eg." stands for "for example." It appears from your posts that you're confused about these two abbreviations.
I hope I've answered your points satisfactorily.
Happy New Year.

Erm no..said is dewsbury not closer to bradford then..ie cleckheaton is classed as bradford..but cleckheaton is a town in its own right, and the residents dont class themselves as from bradford.
Pontefract actually does have its own town hall, so again dewsbury is dewsbury, not castleford.
So, again, who in super league is from castleford?
From Bradford:: k pryce, l pryce, reardon, halley, whitehead, kopzcak..wont say crossley etc as only played couple of matches. These are players who we picked up from bradford junior clubs..ie west bowling, queensbury, wibsey.
Not people like langley from normanton knights, crookes from newsome, robbie paul from aukland, even tho he came thru our academy, fielden from halifax, peacock from stanningley..even tho our lads arent necessarily all from bradford..we can name a very strong squad who came thru our academy.

craig huby liam watts richard owen joe westerman rob burrow joe arundel brett ferres cain southerwood keal carlisle ?
all were brought up in castleford if you were to then go into the surrounding areas then there would be countless more.i could include at least half a dozen from normanton but that would get the wakey fans up in arms and that would start another war of words.
dale ferguson-pontefract andy lynch-kippax danny orr-kippax wayne godwin-sherburn gareth raynor-pontefract tom briscoe-featherstone richard whiting-featherstone
all the above would be classed under the castleford and district rugby league.
I can't help think this thread was started by a Bulls fan for abit of banter because they see us as a threat to the lower playoff places.
They can't exactly lord it on the likes of the Wigan,Saints or Leeds sites now as they aren't even considered as serious rivals anymore and would be laughed at
But the poster said that bradford havent produced any players from bradford..and that cas have produced more local lads..
ferres and carlisle came thru bradfords academy..so they not from your club, yes they from cas..but its us who paid for their developement etc..those 2 i havent counted as coming thru our academy as they not from bradford.so should be both taken out of equation.. like rob burrow..yes from cas..but a leeds product so again cant be counted as a player who cas have produced.
Southernwood aint exactly a super league player..and if owt should be classed as wakeys..even tho now in bradford acdemy.
So that brings you down to 5 players who have been born in cas and brought thru your academy.
Not saying owt against you or your club..but the poster who put that we cant bring any local players thru on the scale that cas do should get his facts right before laughing at our club.
We ish we could bring more thru..but we only have a small catchment area..its a part of what we are developing..ie bateman will be a fantastic player..but its not an area we have looked at in past..our past coaches/chairman have been a win now at no expense and brought over big les, shonny hape etc, yes we were winnign but as soon as they went we had nowt to bring thru..Leeds have a massive catchment area and good to them that they utilised it and it brought them continued success, they are the team to look at at what can be done, much as wigan are doing now, and to an extent saints..but im afraid not cas.

that was the question you asked and the answer i replied to,you cant have it both ways make your mind up what is it "castleford born players in super league" or "castleford trained players in super league"
