Having studied the rule book today, Ive come to the conclusion that Liam Watts final try was CORRECTLY awarded. There is nothing in the rules that prevents it being given.
However, Scott Murrells was INCORRECTLY awarded, as Liam Watts made no attempt to play the ball correctly.
That said I personally feel that the word "control" should be in the laws regarding the scoring of a try. Try as I might, I cannot find it. Im open to being wrong, but thats my interpretation.
So in my view Cas were wrongly done by the match officials, who week after week stun me with their incompetance from Super League down to amatuers on a weekend. Whats is worse is the pandemic of arrogance that is rife amongst them. Zero humility at all.
BUT, before I get shot down, its not the main reason Cas lost - our errors were to blame!
