The beard can not be underestimated.
McCarthey is one of only few people in the league who can effectively hand off twice!
(Ben Westwood's forehead also provides a solid hand off)

From what I remember of him when on loan with us I would expect him to do a reasonable job. He's not exactly flashy but he's a real workhorse and I don't think that you should underestimate what that brings to the team as a whole.
Shame he missed your game this week and now has another week without a game - hope your new coach sees something in him to give him a go the week after.
