"Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"
"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League"
Incidentally, an exclamation mark ends a sentence and does not require a full stop. The first letter of the next word begins a new sentence and should therefore be capitalised. Who needs flankers' grammar was actually correct.
29 players, 5 of who do not have SL experience. We need another player. That squad doesn't allow many injuries. 2nd row looks strong though!
5?
Only Martin, Clare and Brierley don't have SL experience out of those. Nash played for Salford in SL and Griffin for Wakey last year. Everyone else has played for Cas.
Incidentally, the OP has missed off Ben Johnston (Scrum half) who signed at same time as Martin and Clare.

Ah yes you are right about Nash. The other was Orange who isn't on the list He could well make it next season too.

Thought Youngquest was back this week as he's been chatting with James Parkes and a few of the lads about how he's going to get flogged in training?
As for errors, McGoldrick is now exempt from the quota so is non-federated.
I will add orange and johnston, is billy harris full time too?
The reason i have put overseas is that i cant keep up with all the different definitions and exemptions to be honest, doesnt really matter as we aren't up to our quota anyway.
All the other boards have a squad thread so thought we could have one too, if the mods could make it a sticky that would be great Please feel free to point out any errors.
I did start a thread for this for the same reasons (currently on page 2 of forum from 16/11/11 - Your starting 17/Squad) Think you also replied on it 1) Owen 2) Youngquest 3) McGoldrick 4) Arundel 5) Dixon 6) Chase 7) Orr Huby 9) Milner 10) Millington 11) Emmitt 12) Ferres 13) Hudson
Everyone will have there own views, using McGoldrick at centre makes me uncomfortable - however not too settled with Griffin as an alternative (i would seriously consider Thompson, even if the back row is his long term position ?) Cant honestly settle with any, and still feel a specialist centre is required !
Dont ask me to merge as computers really not my thing - i leave that to Binks !
I know this is a recipe for abuse, but I am a believer you get your talent on the field and if they are good enough, then you go well. Given nothing but last season and reputation to go on at the moment, if the first game was tomorrow I would field:
Bench Clarke Whoever else is chomping at the bit and bang in form..... It could be Nash, Snitch, Jackson, Massey, Holmes and Jones are smashing it in training, it could be McGoldrick has got his head right and from the bench gives us options. You have GOT to reward people who train well and are committed, they have to get a shot.
Also I have selected Millington on reputation, if he is taking time to settle and manage conditions, no point rushing him in and breaking his confidence or his bond with the fans, let him settle.

Yes, I do, but on balance the aggregate best quality in our backline is on the field in my view in my example.
So if you pick Owen at FB, you can't pick Mathers for the wing or centre in my opinion, unless you are going to give him a good run at it, which then means you are going to pick McGoldrick to drop his 2nd row channel runner off inside twice every set, so on balance, I go with my pick!
Of course, the unknowns are how Goldy is training, Griffin and the general squad, it could be Richie Mathers is not in contention, so it fixes itself. Personally if I had to compromise anything, I would compromise a proven full back with winners medals and play Owen, who has to plan in my view, on the wing.
