I'd love to see Noble at Cas!!
As for those who talk about a 'boring brand' of rugby, they haven't got the first clue about the game!!! A coach who gets his team to play the right game plan....for the right conditions, for the right opposition.....is a coach who gets results!!
Everything that is solid and reliable in life is built on the right foundations. In our game that means good fitness, a good pack, a good defence and a solid ability to do the basics...and do them well. With that structure behind you, your attacking players have everything they need to run riot and give the entertaining game that we all want to see!!
I think it's a bit harsh to say that I haven't got the first clue about the game given I'm one of those who dislikes Noble's brand of rugby. What I can see, is that what he would bring is what we seem to lack at the moment, especially in defence, plus a winning mentality. The creativity is there, it just needs the defence to go with it.
In Noble's defence, it's 5/6 years since he left Odsal and the Bulls are even more boring than ever, so perhaps each team has their traits which are ingrained and emphasise their core style and it's up to a coach to develop their weaker areas.
The more I think about it, I'm not sure it's an attacking coach that we need - our team can do that for fun anyway. It would be nice to be sitting here not expecting a hammering tonight, but with our squad depth, injuries and defence, it's difficult to see anything else. One of Matterson's strengths as a coach has been that one worries about staying away and missing a gem of a game, which his team are so capable of producing from time to time.
