In my early days of supporting Cas Len's name was as familiar as the players' and to me he has always been synonymous with our club. Mention of him automatically revives memories of the halcyon days in the late sixties and I am sure he will live long in the hearts and minds of fans from that era. RIP Mr Garbett.

Mr Castleford, Len really was an absolute gentleman, held down a number of positions within the club, probably best remembered for his role of club secretary, but was also player, coach, director and president, Len did a great deal of work on the history of the club. Such a pity he didn't live to see the Tigers in a new stadium.

Len's passing is such sad loss to Castleford and to the world of rugby league as a whole, deep condolences to his family.

One of the true gents of the game, respected and trusted by players and supporters who knew him, gave many young lads the chance to realise their dream of playing for their home town club and I will always be grateful for that opportunity.
