Although he may not be a hooker, the Salford coach (a former international hooker) has played him there a few times this season, usually as the replacement hooker. He's also made a couple of fleeting appearances in the second row in recent years, although he's really far too small for a forward.
The point you should take from this is that he is pretty much the complete utility player. Not outstandingly brilliant in any one position, but can fill in anywhere, apart from the big forwards.
As has been mentioned, he usually scores by getting himself on the end of moves. (And just to clarify: this is a
good thing.) He seems to score a lot of tries by somehow wriggling over from close range too.
