You couldn't make this up - and I assure you I haven't:

A work mate mentioned this morning that he bumped into the Cas squad at a Service Station on route to Lancashire on Friday - he has next to no knowledge/interest in Rugby League and just knew I was a Cas fan.

So what transpired? : majority of the squad were enjoying a Burger King (!) and when he asked one of the players who they were playing the player (obvious from description which one but I won't start a witch-hunt here - especially since he's one who I've personally most admired) confirmed "Warrington" before looking out at the down-pour and added "Don't fancy it".

Obviously anyone can read this and brush it off as rumour, but the source had no idea of the night's outcome or any vested interest whatsoever. Personally, I'm afraid that too many performances/incidents would seem to support this story.

I'd take it with a massive pinch of salt and if it was true about the player saying he didn't fancy it then he shouldn't be bothering playing.

The only thing that baffles me is why did they stop at a service station, it only took 1 hour 30 to get there.

The player saying he doesn't fancy it, really isn't a big deal to me, probably tongue in cheek anyway.

They've often been there (Birch I think it is) when I've been en route to Wigan/Saints etc.

No worries mate. BTW I agree with you about the player's comment being tongue in cheek but in these days of betting scandals would it be a stupid thing for a pro to say to a punter. Headline 'Investigation underway into late and irregular betting involving Cas Tigers losing margin at Warrington'

It will probably hit the Sun paper in about a month, they are that far behind the times when it comes to anything RL.
