What Scott Moore has shown us ... : Mon Jun 29, 2009 7:54 am
Has it concerned anyone else concerning why Moore has improved immeasurably this season?

I'm prepared for lots of "he's in a better team" replies; although I don't think this explains it all:

At Cas he was probably the worst no.9 I've ever seen at the club (and I must say - I was delighted when we signed him); his quality/accuracy of distribution was horrendous whilst his error rate was also dire.

I've fully supported TM ever since he's been at the club, but I'm becoming increasingly disturbed by trends such as this (how we are using Westerman utilises none of his class, instead we are battering him to death and I fear severely damaging his immense potential).

I wouldn't bother reading this bit, there is nothing interesting, witty or insightful down here, just this collection of boring words explaining that you really are wasting your time browsing this signature in the vain and futile hope that there will be a nugget, nay, a veritable goldmine of witticisms or divine philosophy. In reality, all you're going to get is disappointment, a sense of hopelessness and a random word.

Kumquat.

Wouldn't worry too much about it, some players play better under certain coaches, I'm sure every SL team has had some 'donkey' at their team only to see them perform immeasurably better when they have moved on.

Think it may have been down to confidence. Huddersfield were rocking towards the top of the table when he was in his best form!
It's hard to play well in a poor team like cas had last year. I think if he was still at Cas now he'd be hitting the same form, but who knows?

Got to agree with that M. But then again, we haven't exactly set the world alight as a club for developing players over the past 10 years have we? TM is in his 4th season, I'd like to have seen more of our youth set up coming to the fore, particularly this season.

In TM's defence, Mr Moore looks to have made significant physical strides during the off season, he looks a lot bigger to me

Intersting point.

We have got to have the smallest/lightest pack in the league (especially in the second row).

Apart from Feather and sarge who came to us you're spot on. Its the development of our own lads that raises my eyebrows. They are consistently much smaller than many of our competitors. It has been the same for quite a few years now. Once they've got the physical side the skill set is easier to display. So what are we doing different?

I have to agree 100%. Our acadamy sides and youngsters that you see walking around the ground on matchdays all look like backs to me. Why cant we develop physically larger up and coming forwards??

Last time i looked our accademy and 18s are consistantly good and somewhat huge But not all big players are the best.
The biggest dissapointment over a longer period of time was the lack of any local investment of time / effort, This has improved massively now with some great coaches in place with alot of local knowledge.
My only concern is still a lack of players involvement at local junior clubs i have been involved at townville for 2 years now and havent seen 1 player,
last year we did get a team of coaches for a few sessions but that seems to have stopped again.
Hate to say it but only Leeds seem interested in sending out players to coach(Rob Burrow) and Bradford are trying to tie us up with there setup and even sent Paul Sykes to our presentation evening.
just a few thoughts on the long term junior development in the area

Would it not also be fair to say that he is getting some great advice and a great mentor in nathan brown who was a top class nrl hooker if i remeber rightly.

Prob gonna be able to help him more with certain elements of the 9 position.

I do however have to agree with to consistent battering of westerman by not putting him out wide we did it aganst huddersfield and what happent created a lot.

Terry was a great loose forward though; so by the same implication that should be ideal for Joe's development (sadly this doesn't seem to be happening).
