In addition it shouldn't come as any surprise to you that Wakefield has more pound shops because (wait for it) it's a bigger city. You should be more worried about what you don't have - ie shops that will draw people and get them spending.
M&S? Argos? Debenhams? Game? H&M? Primark? Modern bus station? - there isn't even a McD's and they'll build them anywhere!
I could go on and on, and whilst it is valiant of you to try and defend Cas, you need to take off your blinkers - it's a ghost town. I'm not one of these people who is so into the rugby rivalry that I start to dislike areas based on what sports teams play there - it's plain for all to see what state Cas town centre is in. It's sad really as I can remember it being quite vibrant not too long ago.
If you want to carry on with your research however, try working out what percentage of shops in Cas are pound shops/tat shops/charity shops, then cross reference that with percentage of Wakefield shops that are the same.

Lets not forget its not just castleford that are struggling in the town Centre.
On a BBC report i saw on tv afew days back rotherham, which is bigger than both towns (cas/wakey) is also on its knees.
Also after visiting sheffield 3 weeks ago to do a bit of xmas shopping they also have a multitude of pound shops and charity shops. Its not that long ago sheffield had 2 massive markets its now got one with half the stalls empty. So just to point a finger at cas is just being silly, its happening everywhere, even big citys.
Tbh what can castleford do when it is ran by a council coming out of WAKEFIELD. We have no chance.
The poster could be 7 year old for all anyone knows, they could have learning difficulties, or they may just struggle due to dyslexia or poor education, so show some class they got their point over. My written english is far from perfect, but for someone to pick out mistakes shows first of all a superiority complex, ( look at me im cleverer than you) but fotunately we are not writing for a English exam, were on a forum! As the old saying goes he without sin cast the first stone. As for the post. I agree Wakey fans seem obssessed and very touchy on RW for saying nothing that people dont already know. Dont forget this PI isnt about WTWC or whatever they are called after their latest liquidation, but its about a site much much larger and one on greenbelt land used for warehousing that isnt needed.

He used and example of saying something that is common Knowledge ( The state of employment and the poor state of retail shopping in Cas ) we all know this is true ( he didnt compare it with Wakefield).
He then with the help of us lot proved the last paragraph to be correct, IE By saying it when he didn't need to got peoples backs up and we all jumped in size 12s and all.
Now the reason he did this was to explain why the Wakey fans reacted as they did when RW said what he said

I too believe that we will be groundsharing from 2014/2015 in the hope that GH will eventually be built and that a license will be retained/awarded on that basis. Either that or we find WR is unsellable at the necessary price and we're playing in the Championship.

Like it or not, the choice of shops is a measure of economic strength. Locally, neither Cas or Wakefield can compete with Leeds. The inward investment over recent years has been huge, certainly since the transfer of the DHS. This has been laid by a forward-thinking council. Initially Labour controlled, but latterly a coalition. Other cities and towns have not had such. This is clearly evidenced by two completely seperate projects, concerning the same requirement (sports stadia) within one motorway junction in the district. One effect of this is passionate supporters arguing with one another over Poundshops.
